Customer's Girlfriend Sends Mike an Email

Name:
Email :

Hey Mike,

This is the hapless girlfriend who shares an email account with a techie who subscribes to your newsletter.

The amount of dry poopey emails that we get in our inbox is criminal, and it's pathetic that the other electronic types are perpetrating the geek image that's out there by doing these incredibly boring emails. I mean come on? 'All you've ever wanted to learn about C++, Extensive Layer Management Plug-In for mental ray Pipeline? BRUTAL! Thank you for the sense of humour in your newsletters.

Mike - I think you need to start a 'how to write a cheese free newsletter course' I can think of many companies that need your help!

Signed,
Disgruntled Dish

Yearnings for the Great Pumpkin at B&B

Dear Friend & Subscriber:

It has been foretold that the Great Pumpkin will rise out of the most sincere Pumpkin Patch on Halloween night in glorious majesty, and deliver toys to all the true believing children.

Of course, I, Michael Fahrion (known as "Linus" in B&B lunch room banter), confess to having become somewhat obsessed with my self-appointed mission to not only receive toys from The Great Pumpkin...

...but I want to BE in the garden to witness the benevolent giver of Halloween toys rising from among the pumpkins.

I am now going to reveal to you the letter I have written to the Great Pumpkin.

Dear Great Pumpkin,
I am looking forward to your arrival on Halloween Night. I have noticed that the windfarm, which is pictured on the new B&B Electronics Catalog (just sent it out), has been blowing harder these last few days, in anticipation of your arrival.  I have told all the children in the world about you and especially the ones here in the B&B lunch room.

Since you don't rise above all the pumpkin patches but only the most sincere ones, we thought there would be a lot of engineers who might be left out of your toy delivery this year.  So we invested in a new fast-setup manufacturing line. It helps us make custom toys for any engineer friends which might have misbehaved and missed deadlines. We setup a custom toy hotline of 815-434-8762 just for you in case you want to call him in advance.

Last year when we went trick or treating, my friend Charlie Brown was disappointed. Everyone else got candy, but he says he got a rock.

One of the most popular B&B toys this year are our USB converters. They're hard to keep on the shelves (http://www.bb-elec.com/product_family.asp?FamilyId=355).  And the brand new mini USB converters look like they're going to be a favorite. Some of the children at the pumpkin patch may want one.  You can get them at http://www.bb-elec.com/product_family.asp?FamilyId=397.

There's only one thing I need to say to you, Great Pumpkin, and I hope you do not become angry at me.  But last year I was very disappointed when you didn't appear.  So was Peppermint Patty.  We waited up all night and missed the Halloween party and we thought we saw you but it was only her dog, Snoopy.  We like Snoopy but he didn't have any toys to bring. Actually he was acting like a fighter pilot or something.

And then Peppermint Patty called me a blockhead.

Please don't disappoint me this year, Great Pumpkin.

Your Faithful Friend,

Linus a.k.a. Mike

Now.... I realize there's a lot of raw emotion in that letter. Especially the fear about retribution from Peppermint Patty.  Maybe more fear than you're used to seeing in those product promo emails you normally get. But you can see how strong my feelings are about the Great Pumpkin Celebration this year.

My affections are no less strong for our new USB connectors.  We've just upgraded nearly all of our USB models with a high-retention version of the connector. This little pumpkin-orange connector is tough enough for the 15 Newton pull-force requirements of Class 1 Div 2, for those high-stress pumpkin patch applications. You can investigate it at
http://www.bb-elec.com/product_family.asp?FamilyId=357

Finally - as you saw in my letter, last year I convinced Peppermint Patty to join me at the pumpkin patch.  But since the Great Pumpkin appeared at some other pumpkin patch that year, she called me a blockhead and has been rather icy with me in the cafeteria ever since.  So this year I'm trying to get up the courage to ask Lucy to come with me instead.

If you have some good ideas of how to invite Lucy, I'm all ears.  I hope it works out this time, though, cuz when she gets mad....

Happy Connections,

Mike Fahrion

P.S.
B&B’s new catalog, issue #47, has gone out. No tricks, just treats - like new products and tales of wind farms and electrical grids. So if your catalog copy eerily vanished into thin air, or you never received one, please visit http://www.bb-elec.com right now and click the catalog request link.
