Customer's Girlfriend Sends Mike an Email

Hey Mike,

This is the hapless girlfriend who shares an email account with a techie who subscribes to your newsletter.

The amount of dry poopey emails that we get in our inbox is criminal, and it's pathetic that the other electronic types are perpetrating the geek image that's out there by doing these incredibly boring emails. I mean come on? 'All you've ever wanted to learn about C++, Extensive Layer Management Plug-In for mental ray Pipeline? BRUTAL! Thank you for the sense of humour in your newsletters.

Mike - I think you need to start a 'how to write a cheese free newsletter course' I can think of many companies that need your help!

Signed,
Disgruntled Dish

Harry Potter & Things That Go Bump in the Night

Dearest Friend & Subscriber:

All around the world, Harry Potter fans anxiously await "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" which gets released at Midnight on Friday.  The frenzy over this book is so intense, they've got security teams watching the books 24/7, just to make sure nobody spills the beans. Infrared cameras, monster padlocks, and, according to some, vicious attack dogs.

But something always goes wrong, doesn't it?  Alas, in Vancouver a store briefly put the book on sale last week.  A few fiction lovers took the embargoed book  home with them.

The Harry Potter people flew into action to do some MAJOR damage control.  They bought all those books back from the hapless buyers.  And filed a court injunction, barring them from disclosing the plot to their friends.

Imagine that. A gag order over a fiction book. Sheesh, does Harry trump our free speech rights?  Imagine those innocent young boys and girls who started reading The Half Blood Prince, only to have their books confiscated and their mouths taped shut.  Worse things do not even happen in a Dr. Seuss book!

I can only hope no one gets killed in the stampede on the Friday night debut.

And my dear reader, dare I say the furor and excitement over our brand new catalog is any less intense?  When a newly minted B&B catalog arrives, normally staid manufacturing concerns become hotbeds of desire. Normally quiet mailrooms are suddenly ablaze with excitement, as lusty fingers seize it from their mail slots.

Security becomes an issue too - we constantly get emails about how this or that co-worker has filched a subscriber's precious copy.  In fact we may start delivering our catalogs via Armored Truck in '06.

So what's in the new catalog?

I've been sworn under oath not to reveal the plot, and the ending is definitely top secret, until your own personal copy arrives in the mail.  But here are a few nuggets:

While most of your vendors have been taking vacations, tanning themselves at the beach, sipping lattes and having a happy Summer 2005, our catalog team been tirelessly working - for you.

Slaving by candlelight. Diligently providing you with the no less than 20 new pages and over 500 new part numbers.

That catalog is being delivered as I type!  You've gotta have it; in fact, you should probably have more than one since your industrious coworkers are likely to sneak your copy off your desk when you're not looking.

What's inside? I'll give you a taste in a moment, but first go here now to insure that you get your very own hot-off-the-presses copy.

Like I said we've got some very cool stuff this time around. My personal favorite is our new rugged Ethernet Serial Server. Our best-selling Vlinx Serial Server line just bulked up. These were built for cabinet installations. Narrow DIN mount profile, all front-panel connections. Wide range DC and AC power input, extended temperature range.

Redundant power input and 1, 2 or 4 ports of RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485. You won't find an Ethernet Serial Server that's better suited to industrial applications AND affordable. Flip your copy open to page 7, or visit.

Next week: I'll send you another e-connections update with more scintillating details from our new catalog.

Plus...

Have you ever wondered why things in your factory go bump in the night?  In the next issue, I'm going to reveal to you the hidden, secret channel that links our workaday industrial world to Mr. Harry Potter and his magic.

(But I must warn you: Your Muggle boss is never going to believe you.)

Happy Cataloguing,

Mike Fahrion
